Art Lounge Mandala

This is a 28"x28" light box that was commissioned for the beautiful lounge at the Montreal Art Center where I've been renting a studio for the past 3 years. The panel is done completely in copper foil technique and installed in the illuminated frame on the ceiling (with a sheet of non-glare protective glass beneath). 

I tried to create a design that would be in keeping with the elegant and eclectic ambiance of this place where people gather for vernissages, tea parties, and concerts. And still, I didn't want it to be too traditional ("victorian"). 
I created my design using Glass Eye software. Some of the colors used in the computer design didn't work well in reality (or I was unable to find a particular glass), so a lot of adjustment was needed in the process. But it was pure fun and joy from the start to the end! And also, despite it being a commissioned work, I don't have to part with it, I can see it every day and show to my friends!
