This is an 8 inch decorative bowl, made from a shattered antique window. It's called Shattered Dreams, because the window was shattered by my 4 year old daughter who has autism. When your child is born, you have so many dreams for the future, and this window being shattered was the defining moment where I came to accept that my daughter is special and wonderful. We picked up the pieces of the window, wiped away her tears, and made the window into a special piece of art. Broken can still be beautiful.
Window glass does not behave like traditional art glass, requiring special treatment and careful handling. When treated just right, it creates amazing works of art, but when mishandled can create a disaster. It's a lot like my daughter.
