"Fancy Feathers"

I packed my glass shop away in the mid 1990s and just unpacked it within the last 18 months.  Being in a rural area, there was no opportunity for classes to update my skills, so I started with small items, finally feeling comfortable enough to attempt a panel.

This is from a 1989 pattern book called Wings & Things by Donna Schulze, which I bought for $1.  The patterns are full-size.  This particular piece measures 18" x 31" or a little larger framed.  The example piece in the pattern book was teal and rose colors, popular in the 1980s. 

The pattern allows for an extra cut (if desired) in the large opaque glass below the bird, and I broke several pieces trying to get a whole piece there, but felt it looked much better (it always broke in the same place as indicated on the dotted pattern line).  There is rebar around that piece, making the solder line a little wider.

I know it's not as complicated as many entries, but I'm glad to be back in the saddle and wanted to share my first panel with my peers.
