Church Window 1

This was my first attempt at making a stain glass project bigger than a small window hanger. It is an abstract story of the Bible. The bottom panel represents the Garden of Eden. The two triangles, one blue and one pink, represent Adam and Eve. The inter triangle is white for they were created without sin. After eating the forbidden fruit they were no longer without sin and this is illustrated by the inter triangle being a gray. The small green triangle represents the fig leaf. There are twelve round shapes in the window. They represent the twelve disciples. If you use your imagination the round shapes coupled with the small semi round shape resemble someone on their knees and bowing in reverence. They all face the cross. The center shape has what appear to be two out stretched arms. The color goes from black to gray and eventually as they join with the out stretched arms coming from the cross turn white.

The out stretched arms are three dimensional. The center shape can also be represented as Marie the Mother of Jesus. His birth is represented by the green and red shapes on either side of Mary.

The cross was made by a now deceased past Pastor of the Church. On either side are pieces of glass of many sizes, shapes and color. These represent the members and friends of the church. The chalice is the symbol of the Church.

The top panel represents Heaven. There are three different colors of blue used. One represents the heaven the birds fly in. The second blue is the heavens we call Space and the third blue is the Heaven of “God’s abode. The three triangles represent God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. The triangle with red represents Jesus who is now sitting at the fight hand of the Father. The yellow glass represents the golden roads of Heaven. The central triangle has the green glass representing the Tree of Life which is in the new Heaven. The semicircular shape is an obscured mirror. It serves to remind us we were made in the likeness and image of God.
