Mosaic, dragon, detail, lightbox

This is my first mosaic piece. I knew I wanted a dragon and I knew the eye would be central, after that it was pretty open to the will of the muse. I thought when I started it would have red and orange overlapping scales but that quickly died (they looked like barnacles). This fellow grew after I abandoned the scale idea. I drew together stained glass, small glass pebbles and of course the eye. The eye is a clear domed glass cabochon that I painted with nail polish on the flat backside. The whole thing was glued to a piece of clear 8x10 photo frame glass and then grouted. My husband built a light box, and lined it with LED rope light and then we used the photo frame as the outside frame out.
