Rose Lamp

For some reason a four of the pictures uploaded sideways.
I started making stained glass Tiffany style method in 1985 after a knee surgery in NJ.
I came across a lamp base in a Flea Market in Englishtoen, NJ one Saturday [mid 1990's] and decided to make a lamp for it. I went to my glass store only to find out that Worden/Odyssey didn't have a mold that worked. I then thought that I'd create my own to fit the base [a $10 item]. I purchased styrafoam, mesh for wall plaster and tubes of caulk and made 1/4 of the size that would fit the base [picture]. I then decided on a pattern and after countless hours traced it on the mold [picture]. I took the design to show mt friend who owned the Stained Glass Shop [Bob Morgan] and he thought that the 4 sections wouldn't fit together. When I finished the 4 sections and put them together, it has a faint resemplence to a "bulb". I covered the seams with an edging to "dress" up the seams. Each section is about 375 pieces for a total of 1500 pieces. It took over a year to complete because I was teaching full time and coaching all year after school and on weekends.
I think this is my most extensive project in terms of overall start to finish literally from "scratch"! Hope everyone enjoys the Rose Lamp as much as I do everyday!
