This 18' x 15" panel is just over 250 pieces.  It's a Aanrakus pattern.  It took me about 60 hours to complete. I had to improvise around the muzzle as I just couldn't handle the pieces between the whiskers- they were too small.  I used wire to create the whisker pieces.   It was made as a gift.  When they hung it in their home, it was "life like" enough that when their great dane Duke entered the room and saw it hanging in the window he growled.
