Tribute to Hawaii

This piece was done to commemorate our trip to Hawaii. This is an original design taken from photos we took on our trip.  The mosiac pieces were individually glued to a basic wooden side table. The top shelf shows the island above the water, the bottom shelf shows below the sea.  The whale is shown on both shelves in the closeups, splashing his tail on the water.  All the fish and plants shown are native to the islands. The entire picture is made of art glass, some cut pieces and some broken pieces. The piece was grouted with unsanded grout in three colors, then an epoxy coating was applied so the table could be used.  The table is now used in our home, and reminds me daily of a wonderful trip.
