I live in Redwood country, and the ambience during local forest walks is something that saturates my artistic brain with color, composition, and curve, not to mention the other senses of smell, touch, and sound. With those impressions and inspirations always swimming around me, the idea of this stained glass window design was percolating in my head for years. Then it took one week of completion between putting it down on paper and hanging it in a gallery. The simplicity of the steel blue background cradles the fresh green of detailed new growth. To me, the piece really embodies the period between Winter and Spring, called "Earrach" in the Celtic language.
The piece measures 18.75" wide by 21.75" tall and is framed with zinc came. I utilized Spectrum (Oceanside) steel blue water glass, wispy, and rough rolled, key lime corsica, and Kokomo pale green, green-purple-blue, and turquoise opalume green.
