My friend Steve asked me to make him a lamp with irises on it. He said he did not want flat edges and to make what I thought he would like. I designed a 12 panel light shade that is 20 inches in diameter and the 3D base is the "vase", it also has 3 way lighting. It took about 100 hours in total from desiging to finish. It has a total of 212 pieces and I used Spectrum and Youghiogheny glass. The shade is renforced with wire between each panel and along the entire bottem. The base is reinforced with zinc came on the sides. I used the copper foil method and black patina. I have been doing stained glasss for about 7 years now and this has been my best project to date. Oh, and Steve fell in love with the lamp!
