This piece is made up of 2 layers of clear glass done in all glass powder. The bottom layer has several coneflowers as background. The top layer has one single coneflower. After full fusing both layers together, I added more dimension to the top coneflower. The butterfly that sits atop the coneflower is made of two layers of cut glass painted with glass enamel paints. On the final firing of this piece, I fused the 3D butterfly to the top of the 2 layer piece. In addition, I painted and fired the frame glass with a wash of enamel paints to create the transparent background behind the coneflowers. This piece took a total of 12 firings to complete.
