Mosaic Orb

Polystyrene foam orb covered with thin set and stained glass tiles, ball chain, tile, milefiore, glass gems, and gold accents.  This can be used indoors or outdoors.  The circumfrance is about 23 inches. The foam orb was first covered with thin set and allowed to cure. The the tessera were applies using silicone based glue.  Once that was done, the whole thing was grouted in a soft gray.  Working in three dimensions is not easy, but it is fun.  Waiting for a section to dry gives one time to really study what to do next.  Most of my pieces are heavily planned, but not so with the orbs.
