Pyrois Solaris (fiery, of the sun)

This panel measures 44"x 34" and it is installed in the living room of my very small house- so it is definitely the focal point! It took me around 2 years to complete from start to finish. I browsed many images of the phoenix before deciding how I wanted to draw mine. It is made from lead came and the frame is also hand crafted. I chose the dappled Youghiogheny glass for the base because it looks like lava. I added 5 long feathers stylized like peacock feathers for their beauty and filled in the rest of the "tail" with flame shapes.The bright blue in the wings and tail was added for contrast and the green along the bottom represents the grass. Once completed, 2 more panels will flank this panel on either side. The additional panels will be mostly various textured clear glasses and bevels, but will have a thin pine tree on either side to more clearly represent the size of the bird.
