You might think these are special glass you can purchase... No, they are all made from clear glass and stringers. All these small dishes are made from the first Optic Topics e-Book from Vitrum (Authors are Judith Finn Conway & Kevin O'Toole).
Look close at the detail of the mini bowl (4x4 in), the pattern is all from understanding how glass behaves with heat. The small plate in picture #3 is 4 1/2 square and was my first try at the technique.
You can never have enough soap dishes to glam up your bathroom. The final 2 pictures are 3x5 in and I wonder what family or friend will get one! The second soap dish (last pictue) was a happy mistake. Despite all my careful cleaning, I got some devit on the white circles. So after some scrubbing, I tried the technique of a light dusting of clear powdered frit. I ended up with a grainy surface which quite frankly might be pretty good for a soap dish.
Check out this technique to make optical illusions in glass!
