I designed and constructed this carousel for a 35 women named Becky, Becky battled breast cancer for 6 years. Losing her battle Feb. 10,2011 I gave this carousel to Becky in 2009 for all her efforts in helping others who were fighting breast cancer. The flags on top have special meaning. "Becky's Hope" is her Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for a Cure team name. Her team has raised about $150,000 for breast cancer research. Her team will continue to walk in her honor in 2011. The courage flag not only represents the courage she had shown in her fight, but being top fund raiser for the Twin Cities 2009 3-Day walk, she got to choose what flag to carry at closing ceremonies. She chose the courage flag which is like the one on top of the carousel. Becky was also top fund raiser in the 2010 Twin Cities 3-Day walk raising over $24000 herself. The carousel now has very special meaning to her parents, and will at some point it will go her daughter ,who is now 7 years old.
The pink carousel took about 150 hour to complete. It consists of over 300 pieces of glass, There are two horse and two unicorns on the carousel. It took about 5 pounds of solder to put it all together. It lights up/dims by touching any solder seam. I learned to do stained glass about 11 years ago, but haven't done any work in the past eight. This special project got me back into the hobby.

That is so amazing and so thoughtful! You are a great stained glass artist. My mother died from breast cancer, but put up a great fight for 7 years.
