Description:
I made this piece from a picture of a live Luna moth that was resting on the side of my house. It is 18" wide from wing tip to wing tip. The edging glass looks black in most of the pictures but it is really the natural plum/purple (as you can see in one of the pictures) of this particular Luna. The moon (Luna) eyes were made by my good friend Jeannine who fuses glass. I added supporting wire into specific solder lines on the back to help support the wings. I was not encouraged to mount it onto a hoop, but I like challenges and decided to try it because I thought the wings and "tails" needed more support. I was successful. I made the antennae out feathers sprayed with hairspray and spred into shape. This was the third piece that I had made.
