Rocky Mountain Wildlife

My boyfriend came home one day with this unsightly gun cabinet and sat it in our front room. It was unstained pine and everyone could clearly see his guns inside. So I decided to replace the clear glass to make his guns less visible. Since I am from Colorado, I wanted to base the piece on our diverse wildlife and beautiful Rocky Mountains.

This panel measures 42"x16" and has just over 1020 pieces, using about  41/2  pounds of solder. It took me a little under a month to finish. There are animals peeking out everywhere. There is a puma in the left bottom corner peaking out from a bush. There is a wolf standing tall next to the columbines. There is a bear catching a rainbow trout in the stream while a red fox watches near by. There is buck in the background and a hawk peering out from inside the branches.

After staining the cabinet, I installed two large lights on the inside of the gun cabinet to illuminate the beautiful colors of glass used. Out of all the stained glass projects I have created this is by far the largest most intricate piece.
