"Huey"

This is a piece depicting the venerable UH-1 Iroquois, better known as the "Huey." I created the piece for a friend's birthday. He flew these aircraft in Vietnam. As my pieces go, it's pretty big, about 8" by 10" I figured creating the aircraft body would be difficult, but the background offered a far more difficult challenge. I created the sky with careful attention to the "grain" so that the wispy clouds were indeed horizontal instead of every which way. I used some smoky glass for the rotors to give the illusion of motion. This is my fifth piece, and I get better and learn something new everytime.
