The Ginkgo Tree is so special and is "undoubtedly one of the most distinct and beautiful of all deciduous trees". The Gingko Biloba is one of the oldest living tree species in the world. It's the sole survivor of an ancient group of trees that date back to before dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It's so ancient, the species is known as a "living fossil". A majority of downtowns in the various Midwest cities plant the Ginkgo Biloba trees to shown off its fall bright yellow leaf colors. I choose the yellow glass which is a 2-color special blended product and the blue and green blended glass represents a Midwest sky color. A stain glass artist gave me the suggestion to utilize the H channel lead and smash it with a hammer to achieve the true branch effect. Lastly, I purchased the pre solder treated wire and soldered it to the edge of each leaf to create the leaf vein. This stain glass window really is a vibrant example of True craftsmanship. I was honored to give it as a special gift to my daughter mother-in-law who husband passed away a year ago. They always cherished seeing the fall yellow ginkgo leaves when they stroll the streets of Ann Arbor, Michigan where they met 45 years ago while attending the University of Michigan.
