Blue Moon

I love working with glass on end, especially with the edges of the glass.  I collect all the edges and eventually, with the addition of a few edges that I make on my own, I have enough for a project.  This was made with a collection of various blues.  I layed out strips of glass on edge in a stainless steel ring, tack fused and then draped.  Everytime I look at this vessel, I have to sing a few lines of the ballad first sung in 1934, "Blue Moon".

Stands 20.5cm / 8.1" wide, 13.2cm / 5.1" deep, 11cm / 4.3" high
