Fused Frit Ferns

"Fused Frit Ferns" combines both form and function.  This large platter measures 21"X 8".  To begin I created a "blank" by full fusing Spectrum wispy cream glass capped with clear Spectrum COE 96.  Then I created the ferns with twisted vitrigraph noodles, chunky frit and nipped fern fronds. The piece was tack fused and finally slumped in a ceramic mould. Whether I serve fresh buns or butter tarts  this frit fern platter it is always a hit with my dinner guests.
