WINDSWEPT TREE

This is my final fifth-year project and largest undertaking by far, both in number of pieces (over 300) & overall dimensions (2' X 4').  It was such a joy to watch the panel develop into all I hoped it would be as each small grouping of pieces were cut by hand, using only my Toyo pistol grip cutter.  Grinding is my least favorite part of the process, but I learned from a previous 200+ piece project that it was much easier if I cut a small group or section at a time & then ground & fit them before beginning the next group.  It was also easier on my back & feet to break up the process as I cut standing up & grind sitting down (Gryphon twister grinder).  The couple who received it as a gift chose the design from a web photo that I attempted to re-draw as closly as possible, modifying primarily to fit a slightly different dimension window.  Together we chose the glass used & upon request I added the "Frank Lloyd Wright-ish" triple border, which really enhances the focal point of the panel.  The more I do, the more I love creating in stained glass!
