Abstract Jameson

Description:

This piece is the result of a new technique I learned called Vitreonics. It involves melting various colors of Bullseye glass together on a kiln shelf tilted at an angle so the colors run together, then cutting them up and fusing them together for a abstract painterly effect. The cutting process was the most difficult, as the glass is very thick. My normal style is very controlled, but this process has elements of randomness that forced me to embrace some serendipity in the results. Total time in the kiln was about 180 hours over the course of five firings. Finished size is 12" by 12" and 3/8" thick.
