Whoo-cooks-for-you?

Do you hear a Barred owl in the evening?  I can hear him most evenings as he calls to his mate, and she returns his call. It’s hilarious that the first call is always a long, loud “whoooo!” as if he wants to know who’s out there. Last summer, I heard an owlet try his first call in a raspy, scratchy voice. My evenings always feels too quiet without them.
