TRASHer

Here is a bird I made using recycled glass - hence the name TRASHer. I found the glass trash in a river that runs near our home, cleaned it up and melted it to form approximately 1800 pinfeathers using lampwork techniques. I used beer bottles for the dark brown. I found blue glass in the river that looked like old Vicks Vapor rub jars, Phillips milk of magnesia and probably blue wine bottles too. The white glass was old cosmetics jars and mason jar lid liners. I even found the brick he's standing on in the river! This bird is loosely based on a Cerelean Warbler who is on the endangered list due to loss of habitat from pollution and land development.
