Description:
This beautiful rosebud-stained glass panel (11 x 13 inches) was handcrafted in March 2023. The original pattern was published in the book “Flowers of Hope” by Denise & Virgil’s, which was “Dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness.” The Tiffany-stained glass process was used to produce the panel. The Tiffany method involves cutting different colors and textures of glass to size, then wrapping the edges of each piece with cooper foil, and soldering them together. The red rosebud glass (petals) is made from Oceanside Red and White Translucent Streaky glass, the green glass (stem and sepals) is Oceanside Dark Green & White Translucent Streaky glass, and the background glass is made from Glue Chip Glass (also called Jack Frost Glass because its surface texture is similar to frost on a windowpane). The glass border is made from Oceanside Dark Green Transparent Waterglass, Oceanside Cherry Red Transparent Waterglass, and Glue Chip Glass. The entire panel was framed with 0.125 inch flat U brass came. Patina was then applied to all the soldier surfaces to produce the cooper-colored antiquing. To finish the panel, a small amount of Turtle Wax was applied to protect and shine the panel, and a cooper chain was attached to the hanging loops.
