Oriental Dragon

     This smooth coil pot was constructed completely out of terra-cotta clay, and was built solely by hand.  It measures; 21 & 1/2 inches tall, 30 inches in circumference at the base, 61 inches in circumference at the widest, and is 59 pounds.  I spent over 75 hours constructing and glazing this piece not including the time it spent in the kiln to fire.  I used Red, Black, and Yellow glazes for the the majority of the body, and white and black over-glazes for the face and whiskers, as well as teal under-glaze for the tongue.  The rest of the pot was deliberately left unglazed to showcase the orange matte finish of the natural clay body.
