After taking a four year glass sabbatical (not by choice), this project was a joy to do and it renewed my love of creating art with stained glass. I made this as a special housewarming gift for my sister and her family for the purchase of their first home (after they spent 15 years moving almost annually with the military). I felt it was an ideal pattern considering her family's love of nature.
Oriental Spring was my first attempt at a round panel. It measures 23.5" around and consists of 223 individual pieces and 11 different colors of glass. I used the copper foil technique and added a zinc frame for additional sturdiness and to give the panel the width to fit into the 24" round ready-made oak frame (purchased at Delphi). I completed this piece over four weekends and drove it across country to hand deliver. Witnessing my sister's shocked reaction was a gift in and of itself!
