Mountain Black Bear - Wild and Wonderful

 As part time residents on a mountain top in Hardy County,  West Virginia, we have experienced the thrill of watching the black bear in it's natural habitat.  Those experiences were the motivation for us to capture this natural scene in a stained glass panel.  The panel is 19 inches round using both Spectrum and Armstrong glass.  The use of the blue waterglass adds movement to the scene and the textured glass used in the bear gives life to the bear's coat.  As with many stained glass panels, it truly changes throughout the day with the early morning indirect light, to the full light of midday, and into the sunset hours.  This work is a reminder to us of the importance to maintain the natural habitat that wildlife needs to survive and flourish.

The stained glass panel created by Gary & Linda Elder is presently on display and for sale at the Lost River Artisans Cooperative in Lost River, West Virginia.
