Regal

I have always loved monarch butterflies and image of them perched on flowers like thrones. To make this piece I originally drew the individual shapes of the butterfly on paper and cut them out to trace into the opaque glass pieces. The shapes were then cut and surrounded by black frit to give the wings their shape. It took a lot of patience to form the black frit and keep it where I wanted it.
