Macaws

This 29" x 20.5" piece is the first panel I've done just for me.  All of my creations before this have been for sale or for custom jobs in the area.  Inspired by another parrot pattern I saw and two photographs of colorful macaws, I put together a unique custom design of approximately 170 pieces and got to work.  I just finished installing it yesterday in my home which is a geodesic dome set in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.  I've been in the custom stained glass business off and on for 12 years.  I own my own custom stained glass business, Mountain Rainbows, which I currently operate from my home.  My mother, my original business partner, used to love creating stained glass but used mostly other people's patterns.  My husband joined her and made custom kitchen cabinet panels for the most part.  Now I'm alone and doing what I enjoy the most, creating my own designs and making beautiful colorful pieces to bring light and color into people's lives.  My business is picking up finally after surviving one of the hardest winters on record here in NC.  Creating this panel just for myself in February finally brought me out of my winter time blues and cabin fever caused by being snowed in for almost 3 months with no 4-wheel drive to get out.
