Whirling Dervish

Whirling Dervish was a description I often used for my beloved dog Samson. His excitement upon seeing one of his favorite friends, be they canine or human, resulted in his jumping into the air and literally spinning out of control without touching the ground-no mean feat for a 90 pound giant! This interactive kinetic mosaic is my interpretation of Sam's happiness. It is two layers, with the top one having the ability to rotate.

It is made of stained glass, millefiori, Italian and Mexican smalti, glass rods, metal beads, glass beads and fused glass embellishments.
