Birdies of the Forest

This Layering Medium & Fuse self standing scene is 8" long and about 6' high, incorporating the rolled edge of the red Bullseye base glass. Almost all the items in the piece were made using the Layering Medium & Fuse technique, the exception being leaves, rabbits, murrini flowers on the ground, and the birdies which are glass blobs I make from scrap glass. I have a large bowl of such little wanna-be birdies to choose from for each piece I make. After the first tack fuse firing of the piece, I use black enamel to detail the birdies and the eyes of the animals, and then put back in the kiln to slump the base over a form to create the self stand.
