Side Light: 6'5" x 8". I created this design to express my love of roses and butterflies. This piece represents many "firsts" in my 35 year career of working with glass: first original design pattern, first attempt at working with bevels (butterflies), first time I worked three-dimensionally (the yellow butterfly at the lower section is a separate piece that is perched on the vine). What is difficult to view in the photos is that the rose petals have sections that are layered with 2-3 pieces of glass to create a shadowing effect and all the leaves and roses are soldered so that parts are raised (3-D) causing them to look as if they are blooming.
