  •   Toyo Pistol Cutter
By on
Pros : Easy grip
Cons : Doesn’t always cut evenly
Other Thoughts : I sometimes have trouble getting an even cut with this grip. I have to make sure I am standing over the piece to get even pressure when starting my cut, or it won’t score properly. It does make it easy for someone like me with arthritis to hold.

  •   Toyo Pistol-Grip Supercutter
By on
Pros : I bought my first pistol grip cutter five years ago and won't use anything else now. Easy grip and very resposive. don't put oil into it, after a while the handle seems to become greasy. My teacher showed me a very simple technique - four of five sheets of the sydney morning Herald or other newspaper next to your work, a few drops of singer-type sewing machine oil on the page, and run your cutting wheel over it one or two times and the wheel is nicely lubricated, without the mess. for each cut, I simply run my wheel over the newspaper and then score the glass. It works every time. These cutters are simply the best, but don't put oil into them, they do leach oil through the plastic and make them feel 'dirty'. A little oil on the newspaper, run the wheel over once or twice and then score. Happy cutting!

  •   Best cutter
By on
Pros : This is the cutter I started with. It's very comfortable.
Cons : If you choose to put cutting oil in it, it will eventually leak through the seam. This has happened to a couple of my toyo grips, so I just choose to not use the oil.

Pros : I have had several cutters and this is my favorite. More comfortable to hold.
Cons : None
Other Thoughts : Others have mentioned it leaking oil, but mine never has. I store it upright in a caddy and it's always ready to go.

  •   Cuts well, but poor durability
By on
Pros : I learned to cut glass on this, and it makes nice scores and feels comfortable in my hand. I've never had problems with it leaking oil.
Cons : I'd had this for only four months when the top of it cracked clean off. I continued using it, with a plastic baggie rubber-banded over the opening, only to have the cutting end also break clean off after another three months.

  •   Helps carpal tunnel symptoms
By on
Pros : I have carpal tunnel (due to pregnancy) this cutter really helps ease my symptoms.
Cons : I have used a supercutter for years with no problems. The first cut I made with this pistol grip cutter, oil leaked from the seams all over my hand...I do like the feel of the cutter so I will just use it with a few drops of cutting oil at a time.

  •   Excellent cutter!!!
By on
Pros : This is the best cutter I have used to date. It makes the best scoring lines. I get super accuracy and such easy breaks. Definitely will only use this cutter in the future! Love the assorted colors! Hasn't leaked either, which has been a problem with past cutters from other manufacturers. It also has a nice cover for the tip. LOVE IT!
Cons : none

  •   Easy on your hand
By on
Pros : I have found this cutter to be easy on your hands, especially when cutting many pieces of glass. I switched from ones I had been using for years.
Cons : It does leak when laid on it's side. I also tightened the screw too tight when filling and it cracked along the seam. I have re ordered a new one.

  •   dip it
By on
Pros : I have been using this type of cutter for years, maybe even since it first appeared on the market. It is superior to the older pencil-held tool and easier to use, taking less coordination and hand/arm muscle. And remember, the tips are replaceable.
Cons : I found out long ago that the oiler doesn't work that well. And to fill it full and then lay on its side, it leaks. If you choose to put oil in it, just use a little bit. I have been dipping mine for years.

  •   Only 30 years Hmmmm
By on
Pros : I could have sworn I owned them longer than 30 years. Still I have had five of them now. I would not even try anything else. They are the best.
Cons : If I could find one better I would. I have tried a few. Do wish they came with a second tip for free. Just always buy a second tip. When they go bad it happens in two minutes flat.
Other Thoughts : I just order two more for myself, what does that tell you? Somebody liked the ones I had really well. They decided to grow legs and walked out the door. They were both old enough to start Grade school this year too.
