Description:
Green stained glass celtic design of a traditional claddagh ring. This suncatcher is made with glass for the hands and heart, and wire formed in a knot pattern for the ring.
I took the claddagh ring idea and transfered it into stained glass. The focal point is the main design of the hands holding the heart with a crown. This is all done with a transparent green glass. At the center of the crown is a round circle made by a lighter green glass glob. This gives the look of a jewel sitting in the band of the crown. The curved ring part of the design is made with wire. I took thicker wires and attached them to the glass wrists to look like arms reaching around. Within the thicker wires two smaller wires form a knot design. The smaller wires are soldered at various points to the larger ones. The entire piece is 6.5 inches (16 cm)around. It hangs from fishing line threaded through the wire knotwork.
