Circles Stained Glass Suncatcher

A unique and abstract stained glass suncatcher made mainly out of recycled and repurposed glass jars.

I cut the bottom circle out of three glass jars which held ordinary things like lemon juice, spaghetti sauce and beef bouillon. These circles were then ground smooth, I put copper foil around them and soldered them together in an abstract pattern. The jar bottoms vary in size, color and depth. The largest is brown and is 1/4 deep. This jar bottom has been soldered so that the facing side is concave. I enjoy that this piece also has the recycle symbol marked into the glass. Then there is a green jar bottom and a clear one, both with a small amount of depth. These two are placed with the convex side out. Around the glass jar bottoms I have arranged a few colored glass globs.

This piece has lots of color, and is one of a kind. It hangs from a hook embedded into the solder between the blue glob and the brown jar bottom. The piece measures 5 inches (13 cm)across and 6 inches (15.2) in length. It has a depth of 8 mm which is enough to give it an interesting look, but not enough to keep it from hanging flat in a window.
