Description:
A handmade stained glass necklace made using upcycled, repurposed glass and wire to create a unique amber brown pendant.
The glass rectangle was cut from a used glass jar that once held baking yeast. I cut the bottom off the jar, then cut a rectangle shape from the curved sides. Then I ground it smooth and wrapped the glass in copper foil. I soldered the piece with leadfree solder and attached a wire decoration. The wire is copper coated in nickel that shines silver. The wire starts in the middle right of the front of the glass, then curves around across the bottom, up the side, and to the top-where it loops up and forms a hook for hanging. In a couple spots the wire extends off the front of the glass. The glass is an amber brown color and is slightly concave.
The glass in the pendant is 3/4 inch(19 mm) wide, but with the wire the entire piece is 1 inch(29 mm) wide. It is 1 1/2 inch (39 mm) long.
