Kiln carved wine bottle dish

0 loves
Description:

This 4 inch dish is a section of green wine bottle slumped and kiln carved with a leaf pattern.

The bottle is cut off at both ends and placed in the kiln over a fiber paper design on a long slumping mold. You can see some things I've done with the bottle necks that are left over in my other gallery items and in the Art Glass Show at the Delphi store.

In my part of Michigan there is no green glass recycling, so I am looking for ways to use green glass in my art. It distresses me to thow it away when it is so eminently recyclable.

Great idea--the bottle glass has so many different colors of green, and you are right it is a source of wonderful free glass. I have been stashing them for years, and the clear too--I am just getting started with fusing and slumping--been doing mosaics with anything I can find..
