New Light

Description:

New Light is made from 1 1/2 inch beveled triangles, glass gems and repurposed glass bevels from a brass ceiling light fixture.  There usually is a thin protective sealant for the brass which is on the edge of the bevel.  This peels off quite easily with a razor blade.   This piece is hanging outside and the reflection from the flat back is as attractive as the angles caught by the beveled edges of the front.  The glass gems offer deep shades of the chosen colors.  I have made several pieces from light fixtures, including some beveled light pieces which were also glue chipped.  The only change I would make would be to use a wide foil or two 'laps' with the widith I have on hand.  The edges were easy to catch even after burnishing.    S.
