Mardi Gras Pattern Bar Plate

The colorful strip that runs through the center of this plate is made of slices of a glass pattern bar.  The pattern bar was created by loosely stacking long strips of glass in a ceramic mold and fusing them together.  Gravity caused the glass to bend and arc as it fused into a solid glass block.  Therefore, the pattern created is one designed by the glass itself - unique and beautiful!

The pattern bar block was sliced into thin strips to reveal the gorgeous pattern created within.  Those slices have been bordered by strips of clear, black and white glass setup on their edges to create a highly detailed, semi-transparent border.  Finally, the center was acented with a shock of color - a few red and clear strips to help provide a central focal point.

The plate is 12" square.
