The Retirement Gift

 I created this piece to commemorate my husband's military career upon his retirement from the Navy.  The pennants represent the submarines on which he served and the dates of entry and retirement.  The symbols across the top represent his rank, rate, and education while serving.  The panel in the middle is his officer's cover, sword, and gloves. and the three dolphins in the center, bottom, represent mysef and his two daughters.  The sword blade is etched in mirrored glass to represent the design on his actual sword.
