FIAT LUX

I wanted a piece for my study window, a window that receives early morning brilliant light, over the trees outside and through the trees.  I wanted the light to blaze into the room, and wanted the prism to cast colors around the small room.  I had enough space to make a 3.5 sq ft panel, centered in the top sash.  I used clear GNA for the glass surrounding the glue-chip bevels.  I started with a piece of poster board, drew my outer edge, then made a one-inch border.  I then centered the bevels after I foiled them.  I traced around the bevels, and knew how to draw my pattern pieces.  I needed that blue, with a yellow accent.  I made a double border of narrow bevels.  I did the usual grinding, foiling, and soldering.  I cleaned the zinc frame, attached it to the piece, then applied solder to the whole frame.  The total effect is beautiful. PS: I NEVER put bevels into a frame, something an old teacher taught me: It takes away from the total effect.  I always make a border, at least an inch.
