COTTAGE BLUE

Description:

I did this piece in 2006 for our cottage window in Bethesda, Ohio.  The cottages are the remnants of a thriving community from the 1890's, with 100 cottages.  Sixty-six remain, being renovated by their owners.  I wanted something Victorian, with color and sparkle.  I used cobalt blue glue chip, clear glue chip, and glue chip bevels.  I created the design myself, with a perfect roundel in the center.  I make sure never to put bevels into the frame, so my border of blue highlights the actual center of the window piece.  You can see how the other blue glass (made locally in Cambridge, Ohio) adds so much color to the original glass window sash.
