Ascent

I designed and made this ascending dove piece to represent my mother who just recently passed. I used iridescent glass to lend an ethereal feel to the piece. The iridescent white wispy glass used in the dove represents my mother, pink iridescent glass represents her love for pastel colors, clear iridescent glass and bevels are used in the frame. The dove's "song" is representative of my mother's desire to be able to sing in heavenly choirs; the clear iridescent "song" represents all heavenly choirs, the pink, her voice specifically. The clear frame represents the veil between heaven and earth, being both solid and impassable, yet clear enough to give us hope and vision of things to come. I used sky blue non-iridized glass to represent the earth and sky.
