Description:
I start with a real leaf and press it into clay. Then carve a cavity mold and fire it to 1800 degrees. Next I fill the mold with various layers of ground glass for a realistic autumn leaf impresion, starting with the intricate viens and layering color and clear glass for incredible depth. The result is a striking richness when worn and a light catching transparency when backlit. I truly love anything to do with leaves and trees and much of my artwork reflects that. I think if you can't improve on mother nature, you may just copy it!

@tracy.peterson. Hi Tracey. I use a Laguna low fire white clay. Let it air dry for a week before firing.

What type of clay do you use to make the mold?
