This piece shows the tiny Australian native bird the variegated fairy wren, perched in a native hakea. The flowers, stems and bird legs are made with glass worked over a flame. The leaves and feathers have been kiln-worked to soften the glass. I have used dichroic coated glass to represent the brilliant colours of the wren.
