Lunch is Just Out of Reach

My inspiration for this project was my 3000 gallon backyard Koi pond.  The pond is full of yellow and purple iris, water lilies, frogs and Koi.  I purchased a slumped glass frog that was square and cut out the edges to make it more the shape of the frog.  He sits on a log that has bracket fungus growing out of it. The fungus was made from large glass oval gems that I cut in half and set in so that they jut out from the log just as they would in nature.  At the base of the log on the shore of the pond are polished pebbles.  The dragonfly body is made from a crystal pendant.  He (the lunch) is attached to the branch that hangs over the pond, just out of reach of the frog.  The branch was fashioned from pre-tinned copper wire that was twisted together.  At the ends of the branches are leaves soldered on to the wire.  The branch assembly was then attached to the frame.  The branch is three dimensional being positioned so it is in front of the glass in the body of the piece.  The zinc frame has been painted flat black.  The work measures 12" x 24".
