The union of two hearts

Description:

Some close friends were getting married and I was trying to think of a nice design that captured their relationship. I was actually inspired from a wrist tattoo I saw. I was able to create this piece in glass eye. They had their wedding in the fall because that is their favorite time of year and the bride wanted to incorperate the colors of fall into her wedding. That is where the red for the hearts came from; it was a shade that she used in her wedding. I then wanted a color that contrasted without taking away from the red hearts to make up the cross in the middle that is made from segments of the two hearts, so I choose a grey that was similar to the suits the groomsmen all wore. To bring the piece fully together a single piece of glass was used for the background so that the piece had a continuous back. This was difficult due to the deep rounded cuts needed in order to get the hearts in there as well.

This piece was made using lead, and is made to be hung in the couples window. Thay are remodeling their home and have designed in a specific window into their plans for this piece to hang perfectly.
