Description:
This panel is 79" wide by 15" tall and was a commission for a skatepark in Port Orchard, WA. It is a memorial to Mike Vandenbergh, a beloved community member who was vital to the development of the skatepark. He was also a firefighter, hence the fire truck. The committee was very insistent that all of the design elements be included (skateboarder, bmx-biker, firetruck, portrait, mountain range, and all of the wording.) The large lettering is made of black opalescent glass cut with a Taurus ringsaw. The rest is hand-cut, mostly salvaged stained glass, though the sky is made of light blue Spectrum left over from another large project.
Material used:
- stained glass
- thinset
- fiberglass mesh
- grout
